Open pubs and relax laws on street drinking

Allow pubs to reopen and sell alcohol for take away with relaxed rules on drinking in the street / parks to ensure social distancing.

Why the contribution is important

Important to help save pubs and allow people to enjoy summer. This would be great for Glasgow.

I am sorry for people who are struggling and missing the social life of going out but allowing pubs back right now and any time soon and drinking in the streets would be a nightmare for the local communities to deal with and for the police to manage.

In remote communities, who are cut off from the mainland and have no signs of COVID-19, it would seem sensible to allow us to support our ‘local’ in the way we always have. Given the reliance on tourism to sustain the local economy further support funds would still be required, but allowing locals to make some effort in helping to sustain one of the largest employers in the community would go a long way. In communities like ours, it’s not just a local, it’s the heart of the community. It’s where a lot of the best ideas are generated, the kind of ideas that support community resilience.

Not the worst Idea, with regard to social distancing can anyone tell me why I am safer when out for my daily exercise period on the promenade footpath at Musselburgh and cyclists whizz past me within inches/centimetres or joggers do likewise (this is happening all over the country I would think) why am I not just as safe, in fact safer, having a few beers with a couple of friends standing a few feet apart in local pubs open only to regulars. In fact lets have cyclists banned from cycling in leisure areas at more than the average speed of walking.

I agree that the pubs should be reopened but think that it should be on the irish model. Table service only with no standing at the bar, and restrictions on the number of people inside. No live music or jukebox etc. The City Council could close streets to traffic to allow outdoor seating areas to be expanded. Tables set 2m apart and disinfected between customers.

Most countries cope with allowing drinking outside. No reason why Scotland should be different.
