Open Recycling Centres

Allowing certain number of cars into the area at a time, only having maybe every second skip open to use to maintain social distancing.

Why the contribution is important

Bin and recycling collections are limited at present and this would reduce the amount of workers that need to be sat within 2meters inside the Cab of the lorry. With many people off work or on furlough at this time and the good weather many people have large amounts of rubbish and garden rubbish needing to be disposed of. If left and the centres all open at once, roads will be congested causing frustrations, gradual opening will hopefully help reduce this.

Personally, I would stack the rubbish in my own garden until I was finally allowed to take it to the skip. But fly tipping seems to become a bit of an issue in some areas.
Staff would need to be provided with the appropriate PPE, though.

It is important to get rid of rubbish not now being collected by councils such as garden waste.

    Yes I would support this.
    Vehicle access could be limited.
Those using the facility could do so without breaking 2 m contact with staff or other users.
However Staff would require appropriate PPE

With garden waste and household rubbish accumulating there has been an increase in vermin infestation in many areas. This brings its own health risks!

Would reduce the fly tipping problem we are experiencing.

Absolutely- our local recycling centre is set up for social distancing they direct you to bays to place your waste in the appropriate area.

I feel opening up recycling centres would be a good start providing social distancing measures are in place. Fly tipping sadly is increasing and noticing large numbers of gulls appearing more due to fly tipping. Public are going to be paying more for clearing areas up due to fly tipping when this can be resolved by opening recycling centres for limited times daytime and well managed. Council workers would evidently manage social distancing and get some people back to work.

I think recycling centres could reopen safely.

Another service that suffered under the poorly conceived blanket lockdown, should be reopened now with adequate distancing measures and ppe for workers.

There could be a simple online booking for a slot to go to tip at no or minimal cost to local authority and phone line for those who can't get online.
