Opening dog groomers

Would you please strongly consider allowing dog groomers to re open ,this could be managed by the owner allowing their dog to enter the premises without wearing collar lead or harness and the owner not entering the premises. The groomer would be following strict health and safety guidlines when grooming the dog only allowing one dog in at one time.Payment could be made over the telephone prior to service being provided. The dog would then return to it's owner outside the premises when groom is completed.

Why the contribution is important

For many of us trying to cope with lockdown our beloved pets are providing us with essential unconditional love, promoting our physical and mental health and giving us a focus and responsibility each day . We therefore owe it to them to give back the same. Grooming a dog is not a fashion statement,it is an essential need for the animal. Many of us find it extremely difficult to brush our dogs each day and this leads to unwanted matting of the fur which in extreme cases requires the poor animal to have it's fur severely shaved.During warm weather dogs with heavy thick coats become overheated dehydrated and listless. Therefore to avoid our beloved pooches having to suffer as well as us,I urge you to please consider the reopening of dog groomers as an essential and vital service to the family, community and our four legged friends as a whole. We are in this together let's include our pets in this stayement!

    Not a priority
Pet owners can no doubt share ideas
As we all have had to

Tricky as dogs can carry the virus on their coat.
Also not essential. Grooming should be bonding time between dog and guardian. Trimming the fur in summer is important for many breeds. But getting rid of the surplus hair is easy, as long as aesthetics are unimportant. Dogs do not care how their hair looks.

This is not an essential service.
Vets are only open for emergencies and are taking all precautions why should groomers be able to open. Owners have to take some responsibility for maintaining dogs coats between grooms. Many groomers do not feel ready to open yet and are starting to feel pressurised to do so. Those that do think its safe are working anyway.
