Pet Grooming

Can dog owners please be allowed to take their dogs to be professionally groomed as long as all social distancing and hygiene measures are implemented and rigorously adhered to? I have no wish to exit the lockdown before the scientific evidence deems it the right time however as summer is upon us this is now becoming a health and welfare issue.
Many thanks for all the Scottish government has done and is continuing to do,

Quite agree with this one. Our dog is regularly groomed and now she is quite getting very furry and is struggling in the heat when outside. We have employed the use of a cheap paddling pool to help her keep cool, however the ideal solution would be to have her groomed. For the well being of dogs, I think a strategy for re-opening dog groomers would be a very good idea.

Totally agree. Our dog is desperately requiring grooming. We have had a go ourselves but she needs nails done etc. It is cruel to the animal as she requires to be looked after properly. Groomers don’t need to be in contact with us. Just the dog.

Totally agree. This is an animal welfare issue. Our dog is desperately needing groomed.
With the warmer weather, dogs need to have their coats cut; they also need to have nails clipped.
A strategy for opening pet groomers should be considered as soon as possible.

Agree. I have a high maintenance dog who should be seen by a professional once ever 6 weeks... it's now been over 12 weeks since his last appointment and he's suffering in this heat, it's really distressing to see my once active dog unable to handle more than 30 minutes outside.
I've already tried to use my own clippers on him without having any training and I've ended up hurting him... I'm desperate for the groomers to re-open as I've just not got the skill to remove the amount of extra fur he's acquired.

This is a relatively easy business to keep socially distanced, and clear advice would enable them to continue to maintain animal welfare, while keeping people employed. Win win?
