Phased return one week on/off

The schools in my area have been shut down and combined into super schools which are over capacity. I could not resume my on site working until my children returned to school (for full days). It will not help parents if pupils alternate AM and PM. I would prefer a one week on, one week off approach - then I could work in my office for one week and work from home the other.

If the schools are not open, and after school clubs/holiday clubs closed then I could not work properly.

I also think an alternative to hand washing constantly, my little girls hands were all broken out and irritated from sheer amount of hand washing, so I wouldn’t be keen for her to return to that situation and would prefer schools stayed shut.

Why the contribution is important

It advocates a solution to working parents (non key workers) and a suggestion to keep closures if certain concerns cannot be removed.

I agree with one week on & one off both instead if the am/pm split both as a parent & as a childcare worker based in an afterschool care setting (& I use another afterscool care setting so that I can work). Same children & staff each week could possibly cut down risk of infection?
Social distancing with children of all ages will be the biggest challenge though.

I struggle with how schools can open safely yet am struggling with the competing demands of being expected to home school and work my contracted hours. I would appreciate it if financial assistance could be found by employers or the government to enable workers of primary school age children to reduce their hours temporarily but not lose out financially.

I am slightly resentful of parents who are furloughed and getting 80% of their wages covered and having time to home school while I am expected to work my contracted hours and home school - I am exhausted with the dual expectations and it is affecting my health and wellbeing.
