Production of PPE etc

Give assistance to companies that have stepped up to help in this situation. This will help small firms and hopefully we could export in future.

Why the contribution is important

Think Covid has shown just how reliant our country is on imports for so many goods. Trying to establish
an export business can only be good for our country on so many levels.

    We should also support contingency manufacturing in readiness for future needs
    We should know what and where we can produce, and switch on production when required
    We can already see it’s every man for himself in a world marketplace

    Covid has made it obvious that if the whole world relies on buying PPE from China, we could end up running out or having to bid for it in times of shortage. Some categories of products, perhaps PPE, should be designated as of strategic importance and some volumes procured from alternative sources (including local production), even if slightly more costly.

    Our own PPE manufacturing capability is really a no brainier. And our trade relationship with China cannot be the same as before this pandemic.
