Protect the at risk group
The lockdown shouldn't be lifted until the death rate and infection rates drop further. It seems we may have reached the peak but there are too many new cases and deaths for lockdown to be lifted yet.
We would be unnecessarily risking lives if we lift lockdown too soon. It would send a message that everything can go back to normal when that just isn't true. We could end up with a bigger second wave which would be devastating.

In the first instance, a reliable, timely testing process which is both widely available and accessible is urgently required. Details of local cases should be communicated anonymously to ensure vigilance is maintained.
With regards to tracking, location based data is available through mobile devices and there needs to be a mechanism where those who have come into contact with someone who has Covid-19, have travelled internationally, or may have otherwise been in contact with a contaminant are notified through an App. If they fail to adhere to the guidance on isolating then there has to be some form of punitive recourse, otherwise it is inevitable that some people will ignore.
In terms of treatment, it will be dependant on how effective the tracking/control is, however adequate safety equipment and PPE for the NHS and supporting businesses seems to be in inconsistent supply which is a serious concern. As cases become better understood, treatments may evolve however this will be near impossible amidst an overrun of cases so it is important again that control is maintained.
The comms from Scottish Government have been excellent. Clear and concise. The challenge will be managing movement as we resume normal activities and so, despite many reservations, i do think this needs to be tracked until there is confidence that cases are understood and death rates have significantly reduced.

Guidance like this would be helpful: (1) continue to observe 'stricter' social distancing measures even when lockdown measures are eased e.g. avoid public transport and large groups of people etc. (2) wear a mask in 'closed' settings e.g. shops (3) strongly encouraged to work from home unless you absolutely can't (4) no requirement to work where 2m social distancing cannot be maintained, (5) must be provided with suitable PPE where necessary e.g. working in certain professions, (6) encouraged to get the flu-jab at earliest possible opportunity (7) continue to self-isolate away from family/other people who have the coronavirus.
It is essential there is timely testing, tracking and tracing in the general population before encouraging vulnerable people to return to work or resume other social activities.
