Protection

My idea is regarding some sort of screen protection for Private Hire Taxi Drivers, I’ve been taxiing in Glasgow for 15 years and I understand why that private’s don’t have screens like the Black Cabs have which is most likely due to safety issues, but I’m wondering if the Scottish Government along with Glasgow City Council could come up with some sort of temporary protection ie clear Perspex screen or some sort of Netting to protect passengers and the drivers from the spread of Covid19 regarding Coughing & Sneezing within a closed area...

    my husband has not been able to work since lockdown he has to look after vulnerable family he is getting no benefit as I work yes I earn but we are now down a,wage get no benefit no help with costs or food or housing and he may get a grant in June that wont cover anything other than basic needs he still had to pay radio hire etc or lose his option to work when things get back

    Thank you for the important input I’m really sorry to hear this especially regarding your family situation, as your husband knows it’s impossible for us to be 2 meters away from our passengers within the taxi, I eventually stopped on the 26th of March until the Hmrc help comes which I’ll be grateful for but June is a long way away, my company had limited it to 2/3 passengers per journey and they had to sit in the back but I still had people who where coughing and sneezing then saying it’s ok driver I’ve not got the virus but how do they know that ? it’s far to risky for private hire drivers as we also could have it and not know so something needs to be done to protect us or test us on a weekly basis until a vaccine is made available to us ALL...
