Provide masks for everyone

For many there will be a cost when it comes to acquiring a face mask.

So long as the NHS / health services have enough, then a staggered system to provide other key workers with masks.

The aim of scaling up to every household to allow people to go out safely.

Why the contribution is important

- Reduces black market PPE

- If everyone has their own mask then they'll be encouraged to take it with them when they leave the house.

- The masks would localise the virus to wearer if they are infected.

NO its too expensive they are one time use who will pay for replacements ?? effectiveness of masks not proven

People are well able to use a scarf or some other covering. This would be a waste of tax payers money in my opinion.

make sure people have access to masks with disposable 2.5ppm filters

I agree although a surgical mask would need changing everyday and a homemade one washed on a high temperature

Masks can only be used once then they must be discarded - you would need a new mask every time you left your house. The cost of this would be staggering.

Non surgical face coverings are not the same as disposable surgical masks. Surgical masks are not necessary for the general population. However, all key workers should have access to these.

There is no requirement for this additional financial burden on the economy, Masks are not necessary, can only be used once. No proven medial science around the wearing of masks and the protection they provide. This should be a decision made by individuals and not enforced.

I'd say it's cheaper to provide PPE masks for all than the economic cost to the country of Covid, let alone the family tragedies of all those Covid deaths. Anything the helps reduce c-19 risks and another over-whelming of the NHS must be welcome, let alone the cost of the delays to all the 'normal' NHS work

    No to this suggestion.
People can manage this for themselves and at their own small cost.

I know that the benefits of face coverings/masks are disputed, but they are increasingly being used by countries coming out of lockdown in Europe, and their use is already prevalent in Asia. I believe that, to be effective in mitigating the spread of droplets from sneezes, coughs and breaths, their use in a population needs to be more or less universal. So, I would urge that the current recommendation to consider wearing a face covering in potentially crowded or busy situations like shops and public transport should be toughened up to mandatory status, with the customary range of enforcement provisions.
    Why the contribution is important
I think that the wearing of face coverings/masks in appropriate situations is important because:

    1. It is beneficial in preventing the spread of the virus.
    2. It will publicly and visibly reinforce community commitment to a disciplined approach to emerging from the crisis.
    3. It will be acknowledged by the our neighbours in Europe and the wider World as a reassurance that we are taking the threats of a "second wave" seriously and responsibly.

Masks should be made compulsory in public as they stop YOU spreading the virus to others. They could then be used more than once as they are not there for YOUR protection. YOUR protection comes from the fact that everyone else is wearing one and trapping their own germs within !
This would catch all coughs and sneezes at source and greatly reduce the infection rate. I don’t believe that they should be free but they should be relatively cheap and easier to get hold of.
