Publish the predicted effects on society of keeping the lockdown in place

The lockdown policy is a trade off. The policy aims to save some lives but there will be a cost to others, for example people who have spent years building up a business that will now go bankrupt, a reduced tax base on which to fund the NHS, increased taxes for all. The public could have a more balanced assessment of the options presented to them if both sides were presented e.g. keep lockdown in place for 3 more weeks, estimated 500 extra businesses will go bankrupt, something like that.

Why the contribution is important

This will help people prepare mentally for the aftermath of the lockdown

    We need to see the effects this lockdown also has on peoples future careers that also just have left school/college/university. What industries might not return? Will the pay rates be the same?
    I think alot of people don't know or are unaware the impact on their studies due to the lockdown and future prospects.

    Unfortunately for some reason there Is a mid comprehension that people who are concerned about the aftermath and the effect on their livelihood are pitching health against wealth ! The economy is people and the funding for education social care and the health service. Without tax receipts and NI contribution we could so easily return to a situation where only the few had access to healthcare at all ! So let business flourish please

    Agree. The current focus is on covid alone. There needs to be a balance and unbiased reporting to ensure the public understands the full consequences of continuing the extreme lockdown measures to prevent what the SNP are saying are preventable deaths (which is debatable and the current data is not proving that the deaths were actually preventable in the first place) . If this goes on for much longer covid will be the least of our problems.

    Agree the economy pays for it all and as painful as it the U.K. is paying for furlough. We cannot afford the bill and so we need to get our economy going. Let’s try it with safety paramount but lockdown must and will end. We need to think how not why
