Pubs - Reopening

Pubs will need to reopen in line with other retail establishments in order to protect businesses and jobs. If not, then the hospitality industry will be decimated beyond repair.
To start with, an 80% capacity based on fire safety regulations, then up to 100% after a couple of weeks, in this proved to be working safely.
Most Pub Companies are still charging pubs rent throughout this period and with no income coming in, this is unsustainable. Even with the Government Grants and Loans, as well as the furlough scheme, it is evident that some businesses will not survive. More Government help will be needed if this situation continues.

I cannot support this because 3 people from our local have died from Covid 19 - it is just not worth the risk.

Only pubs with outside seating should be allowed to open up initially and based on fire code occupancy say 50%.

Absolutely, allow people to use their own common sense and awareness of whether or not they have underlying conditions. Less enforcement and more personal responsbility.

As well as pubs how about opening resteraunts and cinemas but limit how many can get it?

Nope, these and restaurants along with non-essential shops have to be at the bottom of the pile to help keep the distancing in place. You are never going to achieve that in a pub.

Many understand these sentiments but far too premature. Public safety should be the only concern at this time. This includes key workers. The government should be underwriting businesses rather than undertaking their usual PR exercise. Let's all party until the pub is empty and there is no one left.

    No.
Under the influence of alcohol people's behaviour deteriorates and the risk of viral transmission is too great.
