Pubs

As a pub owner I am facing hardship and uncertainty. However, I more scared that pubs will be allowed to open with majorly reduced capacity which would actually be worse than being closed as there would be no financial help and 100% demands for rent etc.
The manning of social distancing would also be next to impossible on these margins and I cannot see a safe way to reopen pubs this year or a financially viable way to do this so please do not consider reopening pubs unless there are major breakthroughs in all areas needed (safety, people wanting to go to socialise, financial help that is actually in line to continue trading) Reopening is a huge cost, if we have to close again it will almost certainly end a lot of already struggling good businesses. So please, don't re open the pubs until we 100% can be certain it will be safe and viable.

It is an important issue. Opening pubs will not be straightforward.

Agree that social distancing in a pub environment will be challenging, especially later at night.

In line with this however we need a longer term financial package that gives all sectors of the on trade industry security that firstly pubs will be able to afford through the shut down but that jobs will be protected and fully funded (everyone from the bar staff, kitchen KP, dray men to the brewery sales and bin men).
No point in keeping this industry closed longer if that support isnt there.
