Re-open Hotels

The tourism industry is already massively impacted, to negate job losses, Scottish hotels should reopen.

Spesific rooms/floors should be open so that guests can be spread across the hotel minimising an interactions. Room service can be available and operated in the same way that takeaways currently operate.

Not only will this be good for the economy, it will be good for emotional well-being.

Why the contribution is important

Restart the floundering yet imperative Scottish tourism industry.
Save tourism jobs.
Short trips away from home environment will be good for emotional well-being.

Tourism in Scotland is vital to the economy, so should be reopened as soon as possible with all the appropriate measures in place.

Tourism is critical to the economy. ALL tourist facilities should be open.

Given the likelihood of increased ‘staycations’, I agree that hotels should reopen if safe distancing measures can be implemented, to support the sector and stimulate the economy.

Perhaps in the school holiday period but no sooner.

as I work in this sector, I am glad you are considering the safe guarding of the individuals that work in these establishments, prolonged close contact with multiple people sound like we haven't thought it through. I work in a small property with 30 cover restaurant with a kitchen no more than 15ft square with limited space already due to equipment. where we normally operate with a 3 person team excluding waiting staff, distancing would be physically impossible and I think the use of PPE isn't an option at this time, but thanks for your thoughtfulness. When restrictions are eased I would hope that the government will use a tapering financial support programme as with many establishments a 50% or less capacity is not financially viable.

I agree with Firehorse. Hotels can only open where they can demonstrate to the local authority that they van comply with social distancing for both their staff and their guests. Also, once they do open, those hotels that have bars may have to limit access to the bar to residents only, depending on the square footage of the public area.
