Re-open schools when test and trace regime social distancing measures and PPE provided

Re-open schools only when a tested and functional test and trace regime is in place for pupils and staff with adequate social distancing measures and PPE provided to reduce the risk of infection

Why the contribution is important

Track and trace, social distancing and PPE are all required to reduce the rate of infection to an acceptable low level. Once these measures are in place, it would be reasonable to re-open schools, allowing parents to return to work without the stress of worrying about the safety of their children. School staff would also benefit from a safe return to employment.

Whilst I agree re track, trace, social distancing & PPE, schools need strategies to cope with sanitising shared books & equipment which can pass between well over 100 pupils per day even in rural areas. Current H&S regulations do not allow sufficient airflow around classrooms due to window stays being fitted.

Reopen schools and make sure each school can isolate any child that becomes unwell, and take appropriate measures. Rigorous testing and tracking is the way forward.

Agreed. Many people just want schools and nurseries open so they can work......there needs to be safety for the staff who work in these facilities. If children can’t see grandparents for risk of spreading the disease how is it any different coming into school and spreading it?

Just not feasible, this could take months and months. Kids have already missed out on almost 2 months of valuable education, they need to go back as soon as possible, way to much faith is being it in this track and trace policy that has never been tested.
If schools aren’t going back soon all children should be repeating the year they are currently in and leaving age extended by a year.

Schools would be better waiting til August to go back. It’s not just about the children, it’s about staff and their families too.

Most pupils and lots of parents have it in their heads that they won’t be going back until August and lots of parents won’t put them back until then.
