Swimming pools should be re-opened ASAP.
Particularly for children and clubs around swimming and lessons.
The danger to children and young people is very low.
Children that choose swimming as a sport or hobby need to be allowed back to their activities ASAP.

We can't only open parks for football, there are other activities such as swimming which are very important to children and young people.

swimming is a vital form of exercise for all age groups. could the virus survive in the water (based on average chlorine levels) and could changing areas be kept clean enough. Cubicles and lockers could be alternated and numbers of swimmers limited at all times

    NO

How do you maintain clean water in the swimming pool itself? You would need to test every individual who wanted to swim as they presented at the pool and have an immediate test result, otherwise you are just creating a huge bathing pool of virus.

If swimming pools were re-opened, systems could be put in place whereby there are lanes set up with time slots so you can book a lane for an hour, so that people are not close together. This could also be applied to children & family swim times, only using different ways to divide a pool into sections.

I agree chlorine I believe kills bugs, viruses etc. Controlled entry lane swimming keeping swimmers apart. Safe distance in changing rooms. Necessary for well being

Very good idea. COVID-19 doesn't survive in water, particularly highly chlorinated and filtered water so the actual act of swimming isn't an issue. The issue is just about making sure that changing areas are safely managed and cleaned which leisure centre staff are excellent at managing.

The positive physical and mental health benefits as well as economic benefits are huge so would encourage the government to continue looking at viable strategies once it's safe to re-open.

The water is full of chlorine. Covid lives on dry surfaces.

Swimming pools should open to clubs initially following guidance published by British coaching. Chlorine seems to be a barrier to infection. Kids have gone from swimming 12 + hours a week to nothing and it’s affecting their fitness and mental health

Get scientific confirmation chlorine kills bugs including COVID-19 virus. Only make pool area available to swimmers (no spectators). Manage changing facilities so minimum time is spent getting changed, eg remove hairdryers, and set up social distancing. Swimming is great exercise and beneficial to mental health.

Many disabled people , like me, can’t walk and don’t have access to a bike that they can use, so opening pools would enable them to exercise
