Recycling centres / dumps

Open council recycling centres with appropriate social distancing.

Why the contribution is important

Pent up demand, as evidenced in England, where council dumps have been told to reopen. Centres are outdoors, so low risk and easy to apply social distancing protocols. Useful for folk still stuck at home.

Agree with this and previously suggested an appointment based system to Renfrewshire council. This would allow enforcement of social distancing which is the reason they gave for closure of them.

Fly tipping is getting out of control and when they do re-open, unless an appointment system is in place they are going to get overwhelmed as in England.

Agree with the above, very easy to manage social distancing. Risks associated with transmission would be very low almost negatable

The fact they closed in the first place was actually mind-blowing

And what are the real risks in this if volumes are restricted. Manage risk - it cannot be removed unless you lock everyone down for ever...

I agree. Restrict the number of users at any one time. But please reopen the recycling centres.. idiots are dumping their rubbish in my rural area of Scotland 😠

Prebooking a slot would be a great first step. Aid is social distancing and reduce the risk of tailbacks at the gate, which would inevitably lead to a few less patient driving off and fly tipping. It's becoming a huge problem in rural Perthshire. The pre-booking should include a registration number for the vehicle to reduce that risk

Yes please do this. I agree. With social distancing.

totally agree - what good reason is there not to find a way to reopen these right now ?
The increase in fly tipping is already quite visible.

Fly tipping is increasing. This must be a priority. Very safe and easy to reopen

Agree - recycling centres need to be opened as a priority. Fly tipping is becoming a huge problem and rats etc may become an issue if refuse is being held.

With an appointment system in place I would say YES!
Our bin uplifts have been restricted during lockdown with rubbish bags and garden waste piling up.

unless council workers are needed elsewhere why not open recycling centres with appropriate social distancing?

By keeping these centres closed we encourage vermin and fly tipping, open them as a matter of urgency
