Relax / remove requirement for school uniform

Given that there is so much uncertainty about when and how schools will be open even post summer holidays, schools should relax uniform restrictions and allow children / young people to go in their own clothes so long as they are unbranded / not football colours etc

It costs a lot of money to get all the necessary items for school - uniform, gym kit, indoor and outdoor shoes etc. I could do without the expense given children may not be in school much. I have primary school age children and they grow out of school uniform at an alarming rate. Please suspend the wearing of uniform until such time as we are confident schools will be open full time for every age / stage of children

Why the contribution is important

Eases financial pressure on parents, many of whom may be struggling financially because of the impact of Covid

Silly idea. Part of the point of school uniform is to prevent one-upmanship in dress, so that poorer parents are not forced to keep up with the Joneses by buying expensive designer clothes etc for use at school.

School uniform generally a cheaper option than what the child would choose to wear.

School uniform is not enforceable by schools in Scotland. It is up to parents what children wear. If you do not wish your child to wear uniform, just inform the school
