Reopen Golf Courses

Reopen golf courses.

Why the contribution is important

Golf can easily be played whilst keeping social distance measures. My course has a large OAP membership and playing golf could be their only contact with people and the best exercise they get. what is the difference with going for a walk or playing golf? I am closer to people in the supermarket than I would ever be on a golf course, plus it’s outside!

Totally agree. It’s not just good for the physical and mental health of older people. My teenage son was playing golf right up until lockdown. If we restrict play to 2 players, keeping 2 metres apart is easy.

Agree. Clubs should ensure that all members can get on the course, i.e. only allowed to play once/twice a week to ensure all members can get a game

Outdoor activity on a golf course for men and women of any age is good. Social distancing is easily achieved more so than in a retail outlet such as a supermarket. There is no need to meet up after or before playing.
Compared to current sanctioned activities there is little downside. There is also employment immediately for the Greenkeepers and later, eventually, for the clubhouse staff.
