Reopen most small businesses

With the Scottish economy potentially at stake because of the lockdown extended a second time, I personally think there should be a complete reopening of small businesses but any that involve touching of other people or constant close contact with them (like hairdressers and beauty therapists) would have to remain closed for the time being. This is what the Netherlands had proposed when that entered lockdown. Even if most businesses reopen, social distancing measures would still be in place especially for any shops lined down Glasgow's Byres Rd which would normally see waves of people passing by.

Why the contribution is important

As I stated above, this is crucial to save the Scottish economy from imminent collapse whether this could be a complete "flick of the switch" or done in a phased manner, with most important business sectors first. Just whatever works and more importantly what is best and safest for the entirety of Scotland, should we wish to be liberated from this mess more quicker.

I hope to see the reopening of beauty salons and hairdressers early on during the phased removal of lockdown. I think they are vital for people including a massive improvement in mental health and morale and this lockdown has highlighted how undervalued beauticians and hairdressers were. PPE is essential but if someone small businesses would like to open soon they should have the ability to do so and offer the treatments they are comfortable to offer.
