Reopening golf courses
Reopen golf courses as soon as possible to members only with current lockdown restrictions to be adhered to.
Why the contribution is important
Golf is very beneficial for both physical and mental well-being. It lends itself to social distancing; it's not difficult to stay at least 2 metres away from playing partners. The number of players in a group can be limited, as can the number of tee-times.
At the moment golf courses are being used by members of the public as they would use a public park. However, unlike most parks, most golf courses are private property. Members pay fees to play throughout the year. Greenkeepers have been working during the lockdown, with the appropriate restrictions, to maintain the courses in good condition. It's very disheartening to see the courses being trashed by people who seem to have no respect for the courses. People walking round the golf courses is acceptable, but it is not acceptable to lie around sunbathing, ride bikes on the greens and build sandcastles in the bunkers.
If people are unable to access a public park, it might be an idea to walk around their neighbourhood, as millions of people are doing just now, including golfers who are not allowed to drive to their course and cannot access a park either.

Why doesn't the government recognise the benefit to many thousands of golfers by being able to go out and play their favourite game and get the benefit of relaxing and getting their daily exercise.
