Reopening Of Independent Gym Studio's

Many public services do not have the beauty of online booking-in systems that can control in-coming customer numbers, pretty much all small independent studios have this software. Small independent studios can create one of the safest places to be publicly. Studios can also focus on strict cleaning guidelines and safety protocols like: hand sanitisation on entry and exit, no showers, bringing own workout towel (no towel no workout), coach to check-in members (no iPad touching), reduced classes to 25% to build back to 100% under guidelines, own workout space for whole class, sanitisation cleaning before, during and after each workout, redirecting air-conditioning units, doors open, no physical contact, one-way systems (entry front - exit rear).

Why the contribution is important

We will need to ensure a coordinated and consistent approach to the reopening of our gyms, based on putting the safety of customers and staff first. The goal will be to meet all public health recommendations in relation to combatting Covid-19. For many people in Edinburgh, local independent gym's and studio's are a communal space that they really miss since the closure of public spaces deemed non-essential: after all, gyms offer community, motivation and the facilities for both keeping fit and socialising. Smaller private training facilities do have an advantage over bigger commercial gyms as they can control hygiene levels and numbers constantly, which will support and join forces in the lowering of risk’s, thus reducing the possibilities of a second coronavirus wave.
