Reopening schools when safe practices are in place

I am a parent who is in the vulnerable category (not shielding). I feel reasonably protected whilst being in lockdown at home with my children not at school. I see little point in running the risk of allowing my children to return to school at some point in June for a matter of a few days, when schools could spend time over the summer putting in place safe practices so that children, and parents, are protected as best they can be. Let's look to the example of Ireland who have had much lower cases of covid-19 and yet have said they will not reopen schools until September, so as to make the necessary adjustments to minimise risk to children and parents.

Why the contribution is important

This is important because we should seek to minimise the risk to all people in society. Even though children do not seem to suffer badly from coronavirus, their parents and families may be vulnerable, and this risk must be managed.
