Resume NHS services

I think a priority should be resuming the NHS services particularly gp referrals and cancer screening to avoid preventable deaths. They are urging people to still go to gp with concerns about early cancer signs however I had an urgent referral just before lockdown for a scan relating to a new lump but my appointment was cancelled and will not take place until this is resumed. I think this will be causing a lot ir anxiety in people in a similar situation and the longer this goes on the more cases of things not being caught early there will be.

We need to get back to routine appointments

Why can’t Louisa Jordan be used for Corona Virus patients and free up Queen Elizabeth Hospital to carry out normal functions. If the worst happens and the virus increases then surgeries etc can be cancelled.

I am also awaiting routine/cancer preventative surgery which has been cancelled indefinitely. This is of huge concern and a source of anxiety for many in similar and worse situations. Nhs services need to resume as soon as possible.

Totally agree. Cancer screening and treatments must be started up again. I had 2 referrals cancelled indefinitely . The stress is awful and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Can one area in a hospital not be designated for screening?

Yes absolutely it should be one of the first things to restart, the hospital admissions are decreasing and they have not been overwhelmed so there must be a way like mentioned above the services can be re introduced even if it just the higher prioritized ones. These services are so critical

Absolutely, get screening back on track, this will assist in people's health and wellbeing. We won't be able to catch up with screening if we wait much longer. Perhaps some NHS staff returners would assist in the screening before going back to their lives or volunteers could assist with admin.

All regular NHS services - podiatry, dental, physiotherapy - in addition to screening programmes, consultant appointments etc should resume as soon as possible to avoid long term impact on the wider health of our population.

The usual screening services have stopped, and patients are reluctant to approach their GP with non-Covid symptoms. This means that important diagnosis, including critical early diagnosis, is not happening, and is putting lives at risk. Sadly we will only be able to judge the scale of this over time, and it will be almost impossible to assess the counterfactual -- if those people had seen a doctor earlier. However, national analysis suggests very clearly that there is now an excess death rate which is not directly caused by Covid-19.
