Return to work

While agreeing with lockdown, the length of it will cause very long lasting problems. If healthy people are encouraged to volunteer to help the vulnerable, shielded, unwell etc etc, why can’t the healthy work with other healthy people. Get the healthy back to work, with compulsory masks, maybe gloves, and keep social distancing as far as possible but with masks.
The lockdown/stay at home strategy was to prevent hospitals being overwhelmed and has that not worked? To keep the vast majority of healthy people at home is not logical and is causing unnecessary long term damage. Ideally, everyone should be tested but you are testing so few people that testing all is unlikely. So get the healthy back to work.

Why the contribution is important

Eventually, a vaccination is likely to exist - like flu ones - and even if it does not work on everyone, the numbers that it will work on will prevent the overwhelming of the health services. Even if a vaccine is years away, keeping the lockdown for otherwise healthy people will do so much long term damage, it may be decades before there is any recovery. The government will not be able to fund the pay of furloughed workforce and needs tax payers to provide it with money. If no one works, who will pay for those who cannot or who will pay for the NHS?
Protect the elderly and vulnerable by all means but let the healthy work.

Get the healthy back to work to prevent mental health issues, domestic violence etc.

We can't keep putting this off indefinitely, it will never be 100% safe. However, we expect shop, care, NHS, delivery people to work, so the rest of us will need to step up the plate in due course to avoid financial ruin.

It is highly unlikely that an effective vaccine will be found for this virus. They have tried to find one for the common cold for decades and failed. Without mandatory testing for everyone, how can you tell who is "healthy".

Totally agree with this. Should a very early step. Test all workers and get back to work
