Returning to school

Teachers at this time are working from home to accommodate as best they can children's education. I greatly appreciate this but it is not going to be a long term solution. If the government wants to keep the schools closed until a safer time them request/advise the teachers that they should go on holiday now. Take this time and come back to work early once all safe. The school term could start in July instead of August. Instead of have 7 weeks at summer, split this to 5 then 2. This could help children with transition to high school also. Alternatively, schools could open for short days or even half days. They come home for lunch and stay at home. There is now easy solution to this but I hope and pray that we get our children back to an education area. Most modern schools are open plan and this could accommodate classes/desks being positioned at a safe distance. Even use dining halls and asembley halls. positioned like exams.

Why the contribution is important

Getting our children back to school is so important for them not just for an education but also for their mental health. My children are going to high school next term and have missed so much due to this terrible situation.

    I have a son in P 7 also and he is missing school and friends. I think going back in July is a good idea but only if safe to do so. I think it would cause more upset if they get back in some way for a short time then the schools have to close again because of an increase in infection.

    My children would be devastated not to get their summer holidays as they are still regarding themselves at school doing the work that is being set for them. They continue to interact online with peers. Also families will have plans for the summer holidays and to change it now on top of everything else could complicate matters depending when and what re-opens. Not everyone will have planned for the same weeks off.
