Routine surgery for animals

Vets could reopen to provide routine animal surgery whilst still maintaining safe social distancing practices.

Why the contribution is important

My male cat was due for castration and microchip the day after lockdown was imposed. His surgery was cancelled. As a result, I have been unable to let him outdoors as he may begin to cause problems with spraying and may also get lost with me unable to have him identified. He has remained indoors becoming more restless and frustrated by the day. I think that Vets should be allowed to perform routine surgery under the same conditions that they perform emergency surgery. I am a nurse working with patients in their own homes and take the required PPE precautions. I am sure that Vetinary staff can also adjust their clinical practice to maintain safety.
