Schools returning

We should encourage high school pupils to wear masks if they return, as this may be the norm for the rest of the year in public.
Social distancing is not possible in a school of 1000 pupils and without affecting their education for another 6 months, we need better ideas of protection.
Deep cleaning cannot be done by our existing cleaners - we would def need contract cleaners in to conduct this.
Also for teachers - have enough ppe and hand sanitiser for them to safely conduct their lessons.
Tech is also not ready for home schooling properly if it’s a long term plan - we cannot expect teachers to run lessons from home with a small laptop or phone.

Why the contribution is important

I feel it is important for children to return to school safely, their education/socialisation/safety/wellbeing cannot be damaged by a further 6 months - so we need a long term functioning plan that children and teachers can follow.
I think it is ideal to test this - if safe to do so - over the month of June so that teachers, parents and children can see what works/doesn’t work.

For face covering to be effective they need to be worn at all times and when removed washed etc. How will students be able to eat/drink and maintain hygiene when wearing a face covering? The current advice is to wear a face covering when out at all times and then wash it when you return. This wouldn't be practical in a school setting.

Remote teaching should be increased but be more focused and teacher led - especially create the opportunity for one to one video links for tutorials between teacher and pupil.
This would take the weight of parents especially key workers and those working at home and tap in to the vast teacher at home resource.
