Shielded people need their own road map, a positive inspirational way out of lockdown. Many people believe that a sector of the population has been sacrificed to constrain pressure on the NHS. Following such a ruthless and efficient strategy in care home and community settings, it is perfectly believable that shielded people and family groups will be sidelined for as long as it takes while waiting on events to take place that will permit the bulk of the country to return to a 'new normality '. I am asking that a Scottish Government proclamation be issued immediately; it would outline the 'escape' avenues that the shielded communities will be afforded and be a strategy of sense, inspiration and hope. Quite possibly special and socially intrusive provisions will be required. The psychological disintegration of this group of people must be tackled now.

It would give light at the end of the tunnel to people who know they could be in lockdown for ever. Mainly, under highly controlled measures, it would permit this group to get out their houses and resume some normal activities comparable to the rest of the country.
