Shopping Centres

When shopping centres are allowed to reopen, they should do so by offering a time-slot system. It would be unsafe and non-practical to have queues zig-zagging outside individual shops, therefore it the mall allows 30% of their usual capacity a one hour time slot, shoppers can move around quite freely during this period.

If shoppers are offered a 1hour time slot, this allows them to shop safely and have full access to the mall before leaving at their allocated time and the centre allowing the next batch inside. This could be done using QR time slot tickets and scanners so there is no physical contact with door security when going inside/leaving.

Why the contribution is important

It allows large shopping centres to open again. These centres provide many jobs for local people, and it is imperative they are able to return to work safely. By minimising the amount of shoppers that can enter large centres, staff are able to feel safe in their workplace, and shoppers are easily able to socially distance.

Although this has had good thought and well-meaning behind it, it simply won't work. I work in a phone shop within a shopping centre, we sometimes have customers in our shop for over an hour due to issues/problems they might be having with their phone, or just the whole processing the contracts and setting up the customers phones for them. This type of system wouldn't work for people wanting to come into our shop and purchase a new phone, as it isn't a quick 2 minute job!
