Stagger school holidays

My idea is we look at staggering summer holidays. This is to include both pupils and staff. Running a 6 week rota of pupils and staff will allow for social distancing to carry on and the same pupils interact thing in the building. This will provide an opportunity for kids to catch up on missed work, rather than prolonging distance learning.

For example having s1/2 pupils in school, with reduced staff. Staff who are not in the building have their "summer break". Allowing for normality to begin again in August.

Why the contribution is important

We know how important school is for all kids, but especially vulnerable kids. The anxiety of families at the moment trying to balance teaching at home of work is incredibly stressful.

Lots of kids are not engaging with the work set, the gap will grow bigger and bigger the longer we are off.

I agree, have smaller class sizes and stagger the school day and the school holidays, while allowing teachers to have a break.

The problem with this is that teachers have not stopped working. I currently work from before 9 am until after 6pm. Also, many teachers have children who will need childcare. Simplistic ideas bring complex problems.
