Symptoms-Inform Public of all Symptoms
Inform the public of all the possible symptoms, not just the most common.
The current NHS symptoms listed include
A new continuous cough is where you:
• have a new cough that’s lasted for an hour
• have had 3 or more episodes of coughing in 24 hours
• are coughing more than usual
The Centre for Disease Control lists
People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:
• Cough
• Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
• Fever
• Chills
• Muscle pain
• Sore throat
• New loss of taste or smell
This list is not all inclusive. Other less common symptoms have been reported, including gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
Why the contribution is important
Whilst the NHS listed symptoms may be the most common, we have no knowledge yet as to what percentage of people infected with Coronavirus display some or all of these.
There could be many people out in society who display the other symptoms listed by the CDC and are currently unaware of the risk they pose to others.
If we widen the net on symptoms and also ask these people to self isolate and get tested we can help get this under control quicker and stop the spread.
