Take Down this Suggestions Page

This suggestions page is a dangerous idea.
The Government was chosen to make decisions on behalf of the people, especially so in cases where the average citizen is not educated in such a way to make informed decisions on complicated matters.

Take it down before it is used as an excuse to make poor decisions for the people of the nation, under the guise of "the will of the people".

Why the contribution is important

This seems like nothing more than a way to shift accountability of any decisions made away from politicians and onto the Scottish people.
I feel vaguely educated in the matter at hand and generally think I know best in a lot of situations - and even I am not even arrogant enough to claim I know what's best or how to deal with this pandemic going forward.
What I do know is that it should not be put into the hands of the public. Following the will of the masses is not always a wise move at all.

People are citing America to back up their cases for reopening - given the way things are being dealt with and the absolutely atrocious number of deaths over the pond, this is not a country you want to be following the example of in this situation.

Decisions like this are exactly why politicians are hired in the first place. If these views are sincerely held by people, they would be writing to or e-mailing their local representatives. Opening it up to a public forum on the internet is a surefire way for anyone with a half-baked idea to be shoving their "solutions" or "workarounds" into the ring and getting positive responses from people who have no clue what they're talking about. It's a surefire way for mob-mentality to take over and cause some serious damage.
Even worse, it's rife to the prospect of fraudulent accounts boosting the "awareness/support" of a topic that stands to benefit the few over the many.

Take down this site, or at the very least assure people that the masses will not dictate the path that will be taken going forward.

This suggestions page is a dangerous idea.

Absolutely agree. We elect politicians to proved leadership and with that make decisions some of which are very difficult.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Whether the government act on it or not is an entirely different matter. Our First Minister wants to have an adult conversation unlike the cloak and dagger politicians in the UK govt.

this gives the people an opportunity to make suggestions and give ideas that will or won't be accepted and indeed may help the government to make decisions.

Not all politicians make decisions that are for the best and the best for their country. Just look at Westminster. When did they last listen to what we in scoyland had to say!

Keep the page. Listen to what we have to suggest. Let the minority groups in Scotland share what would be helpful to them in moving out of lockdown. Minority groups are very often forgotten about as decisions are made to help the majority and so minority groups suffer more. Eg, disabled people, LGBT+ people.

People are being given the chance to influence and to make creative suggestions. This is essential to help the government review all possible options.

It's only asking for opinions. The politicians - as they always have and always will - will select those bits that support the decisions they want to take.
