Taxi and car passengers

As a taxi driver i have been looking at ways to minimise coronavirus risks, and i am using the following template.
No passengers in front seat unless passenger has a disability requiring them to sit in the front seat.
Maximum 2 passengers in car, if only 1 passenger, passenger to sit diagonal to driver, left rear seat, have been assured by nurses this maximises distance between driver and passenger, and reduces risk of coronavieus being transferred from passenger and driver, and vice versa.
If 2 passengers, one to sit in left rear seat, and one to sit in right rear seat, again minimising close contact.
2 passengers maximum also allows husband and wife and person plus carer.
This process has largely worked so far, although there are still occasions when 3 or 4 people come out looking for their taxi.
These priciples an also be applied to drivers driving tbeir car to leisure and to work minimising contact.
I believe this policy would be adhered to if this was policy either from the scottish goverment, or uk goverment ensuring taxi owners, operators operated within this framework.
This policy could also be used on buses and trains, were possible if sitting behind someone, sit diagonal to them.
Hope these ideas help.
Yours Sincerely

Why the contribution is important

For the safety and further use of taxis and taxi drivers and passengers, both short term and perhaps in the longer term dependong how long these measures last for.

The trouble with taxis is that you come into contact with multiple people every day ( obviously ) so I agree that these will lessen the impact of covid 19 being spread, but still puts it in quite a high risk category. I'm a Pupil Transport Assistant, and up until March 23rd, when schools were closed, I transported two children in a small van. I had to sit next to the wheelchair, and of course there's no way to social distance while securing the chair, attending to the child's needs ( wiping face, settling him down) etc. The risk of such close quarters contact is one I've been wondering about when schools eventually go back. Plus my driver is of course in a high risk category when it comes to now exposing me to the virus, as well as vulnerable children. This will need to be carefully thought through.

Hard to disagree with either of you to be honest.
I think we need to consider the wearing of masks on all public transport and same distancing where possible, which is simply isn't most of the time. Most good drivers do at least a cursory wipe down now after each of the very few passengers available right now anyway but I'd like to see this made regulation for the foreseeable. I feel that masks are a great way to make potential passengers feel at least a little more comfortable.

Grants should be made available to self-employed taxi drivers to add screening to their cars.
