Temperture Monitoring

Temperture Monitoring

In Singapore - Temperture Monitoring started in January 2020.

Unlike Singapore - In Scotland it is not going to be possible to take the temperure of every person every day - compliance would be hindered by lack of reliable thermoters and Scotland does not have the reporting mechanisms.

However - Like Singapore it would be possible to have Temperture Monitoring Stations at Supermarkets, Schools, Places of Work, Universities and Retail Premises.

This would be - Voluntary - You should not Have To - have your temperture taken. (In Singapore - Required)

In Singapore - Temperture Monitoring Stations are setup at each place of Work, Schools, Universities, Banks, Shops and so on.

If large establishments ( Example - Universities ) - Each building or Department has its own Temperture Monitoring Station. These are staffed by staff members on a rota.

This could help in identifying current and new cases of infection.

Anyone with a high temperture could be advised to contact the NHS for further advice etc.

This information - could be used to identify any hot spots and also feed into the Tracing and Treatment function of TTIS

Why the contribution is important

If Covid 19 is going to have to be - "Lived With" for some time to come - It is important to be able to identify and contain the virus as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Mass testing is not possible at the moment.

Early identification of possible infections would help in containment.

Temperture Monitoring is simple and cheap - and is a helpful indicator to use in identification and containment.

This would surely be a cheap and easy way for workplaces to monitor the health of their staff and avoid risk to colleagues. It would require employers being willing to allow workers to go home or to be checked out. It would also relieve pressure on workers who feel they have to turn up to work even when they feel unwell.
This could be of particular benefit to key workers.

It may be relatively cheap, but it will not pick up all cases. Many people have no or few symptoms. It could be falsely reassuring.
