The Grown-up Conversation

The First Minister does herself no favours by using the term 'Grown-up'. It confirms what we all know, that we have been, and will be, treated as the naughty children.

This website is a useful way to let people 'blow off steam' but it can also create an expectation that lockdown might be reduced. THE FOCUS HAS TO BE ON THE VIRUS AND NOTHING ELSE.

To fix the economy, you need to fix the virus, and this includes lockdown.

Why the contribution is important

We must focus on the virus. SAVE LIVES, SAVE THE NHS.

The country will starve if it stays in lockdown until the virus is “fixed”.
Vaccine likely to take a year. Few have the appetite or finance to stay in lock down for a year.
We need to have controlled reopening of business to support life and living

Utter rubbish. Public health and economic health are completely inter related. If this lockdown continues much longer the public health of Scotland will go back to the dark ages.

    COMMENTING ON MY OWN IDEA

While the website has some use, it should not replace normal processes and it's only been up for a day or so.

Since first publication of the 'Grown-up Conversation' I have written to five published scot.gov email addresses and three MSPs. Apart from an acknowledge from my MSP, replies have been zero.

    COMMENTING ON MY OWN IDEA.

I need some assurance that those who shout loudest will not get favourable treatment. It's natural that sports such as golf will attract many comments but what about less popular but equally beneficial pursuits?

    COMMENTING ON MY OWN IDEA.

It would be assuring if the people reviewing the ideas and comments gathered in this conversation were to include some 'lay' people, non-government, 'real' folk. The worry is that scot.gov staff will naturally 'toe the party line' when summarising the public's feedback.

    COMMENTING ON MY OWN IDEA.

I have had several comments removed by the moderators. The main one is a message that I have been unable to get even acknowledged by the government, despite numerous attempts.

I can understand why messages that are necessarily critical of the government are being removed, but they should be included in the 'secret' feedback to ministers and others. I seek an assurance from scot.gov that this will be done.

Thank you for your comment. We have published a blog with some initial analysis: https://blogs.gov.scot/digital-engagement/2020/05/08/coronavirus-covid-19-conversation-proves-very-popular/

Please remember the nations population may be less educated or mature than you as an individual. That would be an adult approach rather than a spoiled child expressed in your idea. As far as I can see the FM approach has been lead by tackling the virus before easing lockdown restrictions, It is the media speculation that is pushing ideas of lockdown easing! unless I have already lost my mind during isolation.
