It’s pretty clear that sitting alone on a riverbank fishing, playing a solo round of golf, sitting alone on a park bench have zero risk. Similarly walking alone for 5 hours is no more risky than walking alone for 1 hour. The lockdown is essentially to reduce social contact but people who would abide by such simple instructions are being harmed by not being allowed such innocuous, normal and to them everyday activities.
Why the contribution is important
The lockdown is beginning to crack as it is too tight and for too long. As a result many are subverting it whilst many others who would be ‘sensible’ are suffering mental stress. (I know that I am!) Small changes as above would substantially reduce the tension whilst preserving the essence of the necessary social distancing which in any case is likely to be needed for many months.
