Third Sector Orgs as educational spaces

Allow third sector organisations such as youth organisations like the YMCA in Scotland to used their youth spaces, skills sets and resources to share the burden of social distancing school pupils returning to schools so that all pupils remain in education 5 days a week as a posed to half of the week. The idea is to have a group attend schools one half of the week while the other half attend a youth space such as Paisley YMCA’s Makerspace and still receive a STEM based curriculum education.

Why the contribution is important

It keeps young people out the house 5 days a week. It maintains their full education as a posed to long term part time or home education where parents etc are limited or struggling to educate their children. After a long period of lock down it will support the mental health of young people to continue to focus on their education and maintain social connections to school friends. It provided third sector organisations an opportunity to support school teachers and education institutions who will have limited resources to teach all pupils online with social distancing measures. It will provide an opportunity for educators, teachers and youth workers to combined formal and informal education practices
