Thursday clapping for NHS

I think the Thursday clapping should be changed to include ALL people keeping the country going just now and not just single out the NHS.

Why the contribution is important

I agree with showing appreciation to NHS staff during the pandemic. However I think the Thursday clapping should be for ALL people keeping the country going just now. There are volunteers, supermarket and retail staff, delivery drivers, undertakers, postmen, gardeners, emergency services, politicians, bin men, domestic staff, call centre staff, social workers, care workers and I apologise if I've missed anyone else that's keeping the country going and working very hard just now.

My I suggest some jazz hands and flip dipping instead?
Not everyone has the mobility or stamina to perform a clap and some people are traumatised by clapping sounds.

Just wanted to make it absolutely safe for all yeah.

I don't participate in the clap for NHS because I have been let down by the NHS and I'm not going to be a hypocrite. I do agree with you because my husband is one of those people who is still going to work every day. He's doing the work of 18 people and I'm so grateful for him being the person he is. Thank you so much for considering other people who are still working to keep others safe and the stopping the country from coming to a complete standstill, I appreciate your words

I agree and I don't see other keyworkers getting the same privilidges as NHS workers either

NHS have NOT been doing a good job. They haven't even been DOING their job. Empty wards. Idle doctors / nurses / dentists etc, etc, etc. The clapping is a political device to con the public. The health of the public has never been so bad (and NOT because of Covid-19)

Nobody round my area participates in this Thursday charade. That is not to say we do not appreciate the work being done by many folk during the pandemic just that we don't see the need to act like performing seals at 20:00 on a Thursday.

I thought other key workers were already recognised with these? In general, I find this sort of event needless and it better phase out soon. Especially when you know that some folk cross the line whilst showing their "appreciation".
