Travel by car for leisure

It seems pointless to stop people going out in their cars as a relief from being holed up in their houses. Provided they do not get out of the car there seems little danger. A flask and a sandwich?

Why the contribution is important

Many elderly people would welcome this as common sense for their mental well being.

I did understand the restriction while there was a risk of overwhelming hospitals by adding car accidents.
Now, I think this is one of the restrictions no longer needed.
For some people with mental health issues, driving, or being driven around as a passenger, provides substantive relief.

Yes, in addition travelling by car to a remote area for a walk, where you come in contact with hardly anyone else, would be safer than a trip to the supermarket or a crowded local park.

... and when you breakdown or get involved in an accident?

There is a clear reason why car use should be limited - it puts a strain on emergency services.

The people out driving and most likely to cause an accident are the idiots who are using the empty roads as a race track. These people need removed from the road not citizens who want to drive a very few miles to walk in relative isolation. People are driving to get groceries so why not use that same journey to have a short walk somewhere nearby in nature. After all they would be limited to some extent by the capacity of their bladders.

I see no reason why a familly could not go out in their car for a day trip, take food and drink with them and stop in a remote place away from people for a picnic.

Like a lot of things being proposed, all we want is the ability to be able to go out and be sensible and do things that do not bring us into contact with other people.

I would add motorcycling should also be allowed along the same lines that it is okay as long as you don't stop where there are other people.

No, travel has to be limited, it risks putting pressure on emergency services. It isn't essential.
