Travel for exercise

A maximum distance (20 miles?) to travel in your car in order to exercise should be allowed.

Why the contribution is important

This does not need to be far, but would allow those in cities and towns to exercise without having to avoid large numbers of people whilst doing so. It would not increase spread of the virus as people would be in less contact with one another. The longterm implications to the mental health of all people, only ever being allowed to exercise from their front door in this repetitive, limiting way we currently have, needs reconsidered. We have an excess of empty landscape in Scotland that people could use safely. Why are only those lucky enough to live near these spaces being able to use them? This just adds to the inequality this situation has already brought to bare. A small change to this lockdown rule could make a huge difference.

According to Health Protection (Scotland) regulations there is no limit on how often or how long you exercise, or how far you travel for it. It is therefore lawful to do this already. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ssi/2020/103/regulation/8/made

Travel to open countryside but not to “honeypots”. There shouldn’t need to be any mixing with local inhabitants. Careful avoidance of risky activity which could require emergency services
