Travel to and from abroad

I understand that this may not be under the jurisdiction of the Scottish Government but I am extremely concerned that travellers from abroad have been allowed to enter the country without testing or quarantine. It maybe the case that the horse has bolted but I seriously think some kind of checks and quarantine should be put in place.

Why the contribution is important

The countries which have quarantined and tested or closed their borders seem to be fairing better than us!

I certainly believe that we should stop importing cases, and enforce 14 day quarantine on all positive tested airline passengers arriving in Scotland. The hotels that aren’t available for tourists can quarantine imported cases and therefore minimise travel from the airport. This would mean that all airline passengers need to be tested, and all air crew tested at least once per week. People who fly during lockdown surely know the risks and are understanding of quarantine requirements. If they don’t want to be quarantined then they shouldn’t fly.

As tests are now becoming more freely available the quarantine after flying should be just as long as it takes to get a negative result.
We have to reopen ourselves to the world at some point.
