Trust People to be sensible

As we should all be aware by now of the seriousness of catching Covid 19, we should be trusted to go about our lives without Government imposed restrictions. Including going to work, exercising in any way we want, and including leisure activities, visiting friends and family. Destroying our way of life and economy is not sensible and we need to get this pandemic into perspective based on the relatively small numbers affected and dying, sad as that is!

Why the contribution is important

We are heading down a path which will lead to economic and social ruin the consequences of which will take many years to recover from.

I am sorry but my opinion is this is the worst thing we can do. Now is not the time to hope people do the right thing. I live in a town 15 miles from Glasgow and walk my dog on a cycle pathway and every day I see people cycling on bikes hired in Glasgow. If they are cycling from Glasgow and back in 30mins they should sign up for the Tour De France but not risk my life by irresponsible behaviour. People cannot be trusted to even follow current rules anyone living in Balloch will tell you it is as busy as any other sunny holiday. Mindset as usual.

Even those who want to be sensible and safe need guidance about what kinds of precaution to take - which is part of the point of the rules. And we are more likely to behave sensibly if we know that others are being required to do the same. Strict rules combined with sensitive/flexible enforcement is the way to go.
