To provide a basic income to every working age person who earns less than 70k per annum. This should be a non means tested benefit and should be approximately 800 pounds per month. This could easily be afforded by taxing some of the vast wealth of this country and corporations who evade UK tax

Why the contribution is important

We have seen through this crisis that some of the most valuable jobs to our society are some of the poorest paid.. A universal basic income would help to level out inequality and also regenerate the economy faster when we come out of lockdown. It will also provide a safety net for the many thousands who will lose their jobs. In the future it would help to remove the stigma of being unemployed which will be a long lasting side effect of this crisis
