Use risk based approach

The elderly and vulnerable were highlighted at the very start as the most at risk. Stop sending elderly people back to care homes based on negative tests performed while they were asymptotic, when the result is unreliable. Look at barrier nursing them after a hospital stay in places like the Louisa Jordan for 7 days prior to returning them to the care home setting and prevent the virus getting in. Staff must be given the appropriate PPE to prevent them unwittingly introducing it while caring for the residents. Be clear about recommendations re wearing face masks to the public as it causes people to feel invincible and relax their other precautions, while introducing competition with health care settings for supplies. The public cannot remain in lockdown until vaccines are ready, we know estimated levels of infection in the country due to modelling so stratification of removing lock down based on risk (e.g. age/predisposition/work environment) needs to be taken to allow the virus to eventually run out of hosts while the most vulnerable are protected.

Why the contribution is important

It protects the people highlighted from day 1 as the most vulnerable, but who continue to be least protected.

Makes complete sense. But it is the Scottish govt - politics will trump sense !

If only common sense prevailed. 😊
The economy is taking a dive and my children will suffer for it.
They will foot the bill for healthy, low risk people having to stay at home.

we need an approach based on evidence, informed risk assessment and targetting solutions where they will have most impact - whilst the rest of the economy gets back to normal. Lets hope the Scottish Government actually read and take action based on the suggestions - this site would suggest the sentiment of the country is not behind their current approach of letting fear lead before evidence.
