Visiting family/friends

Please can it be possible to see some family/friends if you live alone.
Even if it’s only outside for 30 minutes. Obviously you need to be careful who you see and also limit it to maybe 3 people

Why the contribution is important

Isolating on my own is now getting so difficult, FaceTime phone calls etc help but it’s not the same as actually seeing someone.

I agree. The separation when not living with a loved one or close friend is much harder and is a form of torture used by the military and in prisons. Please, you will ruin the mental health of the single population. New Zealand allowed people on their own to meet with one other person a 'buddy' throughout their strict lock down as they realised that the mental health impact was more profound. My close family live in London and Australia so allowing people to see just family won't help me. I want to meet up with one or two friends to feel sane again.

One way to ease the lockdown is to allow meetings of (no more than) 2 people. This has consistently been the case in the Netherlands. It may not come with a huge penalty in terms of transmission. This should also be an acceptable reason to travel.

This needs to be a top priority as the mental health of those who live alone is in ruins, precisely because we were not considered in the first stage of lockdown. Together with no access to psychology as this was paused across Scotland, there is a mental illness pandemic coming our way.
