Voluntary green tax to fund new green transformation

As part of the economic and social recovery, a voluntary green tax ( 1% of income) could be used to kick start and fund new environmental businesses, such as sustainable energy, clothing, food, travel. The government could then hold a 30% shares in these companies, and re-invest any profits back in to future emerging opportunities.
I am suggesting a voluntary scheme, so not to increase taxation on the lowest income households.

Why the contribution is important

Not only do we need to change how we live in light of the present pandemic, but we must also address the on coming global crisis climate change presents. We have a once in a life time opportunity not to return how we use to be, but the opportunity to build a better future for ourselves our families and the planet.

The economy is crashing, fact. I doubt anyone will willingly participate in this scheme right now. However, definitely an interesting proposition for the future.

Unless the UK government itself is willing to press China to change its use of climate destroying industry, it's a drop in the ocean. I certainly wouldn't want my business to pay this knowing there's very little comparative impact of this in Scotland.

This is completely impractical and your green/socialist agenda will ensure that Scotland secures its place amongst third world nations that will require hand outs for years to come.

As I made it quite clear it is a voluntary tax, means that you don't need to pay, if you feel that doing nothing is a more responsible option. The scheme is about replacing fossil fuels that will run out within the next 30-50 years, and those countries that are still reliant on them will be unable to function. thus making them a third world nation. I would also suggest that Scotland historically has produced some fantastic inventions and scientist. Surely it would be more beneficial to place the Scottish economic recovery at the forefront of this technology and become a world leader.
