Volunteering Network

I think Volunteer Scotland and the weekly radio show is great! However, I think the government should take the initiative to the next level.

Smartphones are designed to be as low effort as possible for searching information on Google, reading news on Twitter/Facebook, purchasing on Amazon.

I think this is a good time to open source the processes of managing the volunteer network. Make it a community competition for system design.

Why the contribution is important

Unfortunately if Volunteering has any entry barriers at all, people will avoid it. I mean, registration forms, multiple pages or emails.

I love volunteering and I think tons more people would get involved if the process was streamlined to world class tech standard

People need opportunities to keep connected and have purpose in the future, especially if jobs are on pause or made redundant.

There seems to be a good system for volunteer registration online. Also, local support group in my area is in contact with the local Council. Don't really understand what problem this proposal is trying to address. However, I do agree we are lucky that nowadays so many of us have access to info online which can be passed on through social media (or phone, text, email) to friends /family, so long as we are sure of our sources. eg @scotgov

I have volunteered as a driver for NHS highland to move samples etc from a rural area to Glasgow but I am delayed by providing passport, birth certificates, driving license, etc police check and now I need to wait for a HepB but clinics are shut!
    Unreal 😀
