What is the point of this?

Predictably this forum has been completely overwhelmed in a few hours.

Will SG officers be looking at every single post?

Is it just a place for grumbles?

Will anything productive come out of it?

Why the contribution is important

Because what's the point in it.

I totally agree but I'm not on social media so I'm using this instead. Nobody is interested in anything we say It's just another way the government fools us into thinking they're listening.

We use the same method at work where we can put comments in a "suggestions box"

Interesting you have bothered to comment then, Gavin! I hope that the Government will review these comments. Interestingly, I have read most comments and it does give a gauge as to where the public concerns lie and also where these focus according to different themes arising. It also indicates what a tough job policy makers have in taking forward key plans on our behalf to move the country forward whilst minimising loss of lives.

I feel that the government has set this up to allow people to have a say but if we really think or opinion will matter well remains to be seen I hope they will read and engage with these comment but the truth will be seen in coming few days

This is what a 'grown up conversation' looks like in the 21st century. I believe that the benefits are two-fold.
I get the chance to let off steam (responsibly) and feel that I am contributing even if it is at a very low level.
I am confident that civil servants will be reading all of the comments - even if it just to ensure that they are appropriately worded. They will be better able to sense the mood of the population and who knows . . . some original ideas may be gleaned in the process.

I am in no doubt that everything written here will be read by someone in Scottish Government.
Almost certainly, a foot soldier, rather than Nicola, herself, but it’ll nevertheless be read.
What they actually do with it is anyone’s guess, but I’d like to think that our comments, one way or another, will make a positive difference.

Yes, it will all get read, put into piles and counted. Ministers will be told X number said this, Y number said that. Will it make a difference? Marginally, possibly. Of the 1,000 comments, many seem to be someone's hobby horse, many duplicates, and a few duplicated political rants. Any game changing ideas? 'Fraid not in my view, but 1 or 2 worth a closer look. Someone said the politicians will ignore it. When you look at the quality of the debate, it does make you wonder.
