Work together on a COVID19 tracking device

At this time we need to be able to see and share data across England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales to track this virus effectively, creating separate systems is slowing down our ability to track efficiently by building unnecessary barriers and wasting resources. What else could we be developing if we didn't have separate teams working on the same problem.

As a Data Protection Officer I understand the need to protect Personal Data and Special categories of Personal Data, it is difficult I know, but we should be working together and be using the ICO sandbox to develop and test a secure single system.

Why the contribution is important

Data sharing is our greatest weapon for beating the virus, without it we as a country and across the world are being hamstrung. Share safely and provide the data that scientists and others need to be able to develop effective solutions.

The more we know, the greater the width and depth of the data the quicker the solutions will be identified and explored.

Agreed. But we've already got an app, Google Maps, that can do that (or is it not at a low enough level of granularity) so I'm not getting why everyone's developing apps for something I think we can already do already. It would certainly be "big data" stuff but the data's already there (assuming Location is on)?

Should be global to pick up foreign travellers as well.

what do you want to follow? maybe the cough or runny nose virus you want to track too? What about the HIV virus? after all, you can also follow him .... going further, you can create applications to track cancer .... the latter are deadly. Think before you write

Prefer Scottish or UK app as Google etc. have proven themselves untrustworthy with individuals' data.
