Equal rights of appeal in planning matters for developers and local communities

At the moment only developers have the right of appeal. Others should have that right too. The law only sees developers being impinged upon planning law but it has a big impact on communities and the community as a whole has a right of appeal.

Why the contribution is important

It costs the community if they want to make an appeal – an equal right of appeal would be simpler and could give community councils more credibility.

All planning applications submitted should be forwarded to the relevant Community Councils, (neighbours can be affected), only after the Community Council has approved the application should it proceed. Equal right of appeal is most definitely required. There should be no delegated powers used to decide any planning application.
